  1. So far I have managed to sit through the outline and colour for both of my mermaids, however, I would imagine that anything larger than that might have to be done in two sittings.  The shop I use does "day sittings" which are 7 hours long, so as long as you can take it and the artists is comfortable doing it all in one go then that's how they do it.  For a big tattoo though, like a back piece, I would imagine they would do it in two sittings.

  2. If the tattoo is fairly large, a lot of people get the outline done and make another appointment to get the colour filled in. They do this because sometimes the pain is just unbearable and they need a bit of a break. On smaller tattoos, they do it all at once.

  3. If you have a big tat than you will have to go back. If its a small one than it all can be done at the same time.

  4. depends on the size of the tat. When people do the outline first then get it colored or shaded in, its either (1) its so freakin big, the pain is just too much (2) the tattoo artist cant sit for that long (3) you dont have enough money to color it in.

  5. Size, as the others said is the only deciding factor, other than your ability to take the pain.

  6. It depends on the size of it.  If its a BIG tattoo like a full back piece or something then its usually a couple of visits.  If its a small to medium one its all done in one sitting.  Again tho it all depends on the amount of detail, time, but generally if its a small to meduim tattoo it's all done at the same time.

  7. First of all, it depends if you want just the outline or if you want outline and color. Then it depends on the size. If you want a large tattoo, it may take a couple of days and you may have to come back more than once. On the other hand, if your tattoo is small, you can get it all done at one time.

    Hope I helped!

  8. If it is a big tattoo they usually do it in more than one session. They usually do the outlining one session, and start the colour at another session. If it is small they will do it all at one session.
