My daughter finally got a job and she is totally disqusted because she said the motel she works for does not wash the spreads between overnighters. She also told me there was p**p on a wash rag in the shower and they expected her to pick it up with her un gloved hand. Is this normal cleaning of a motel?

  1. Sorry to burst your bubble Neil . They are NOT washed on any kind of regular basis. That's why people advise other people to; take the bed spread right off the bed before you sleep in the bed. No matter how high the "stars" on a hotel, they do not wash them bed spreads after every guest. Oh how I, and many other travelers wish they would.

I know  of people who have stayed at 5 star hotels, and have gotten Bed Bug bites.( which look like nasty little red marks on your body)  Just remember Don't sit on the bed in the hotel until you remove the bed spread.

Tell your daughter to request gloves, she does NOT have to pick up anything with her bare hands.

  2. Spreads and blankets are normally washed... well, we hope sometime!

Ungloved hand? What's stopping her from getting gloves?

  3. no they dont wash spreads in between uses unless something is spilled on it or you stay in what they call  a pet room then they wash the spreads, also its not common practice to work in the cleaning industry and not be provided with gloves, she should seek new employment

  4. The first part is. The second part is not. That's disgusting. Well, they both are, but at least the not washing the spread issue is a common one.

  5. It's very common in both motels and hotels (even the upscale ones) to not wash the bedspread between patrons.

That's why the first thing I do when I get into a hotel room is take the bedspread off the bed.
