  1. I am... we met at the young age of 18, have been together for over 4 yrs and are marrying at the beginning of next yr

I believe the earlier comment saying most first love marriages end in divorce is pretty unfair. My fiancee's sister is marrying her first love also.

I think we're both very lucky to have found each other so young, especially in this day and age. My partner is in the army and maybe that had something to do with it - its made us grow up a lot quicker and cherish the time we do have together.

  2. No. My friends who did wound up getting divorced.

  3. During the WW2 era, it was common to do so. However in this day and age, it is unheard of.

  4. No.  The majority of people in this world probably do NOT marry their first love.

  5. There is no real way to answer that. I think that is depends on what people view as "there first love". It's going to be totally different for everyone and a lot depending on how they gage it.

I did NOT marry my first love, but he is my best friend still, after all these years.

  6. God I hope so. Im 24 & in september of this year me & my boyfriend will be together for ten years. He is the first guy I ever dated & hopefully the last. My aunt & uncle started dating at the age of 12 & they are both in their mid 40's & still together.

I do think it's uncommon but not imposable, Hope this helps, good luck & keep the faith!!!

  7. I married my first love & we will celebrate 32 years this year. I don't think that we are the norm in this day & age though.

  8. That's hard to say.  I thought I was in love a few times before my husband, but when it came down to it, I didn't feel for anything foe them like I feel for my husband so maybe he really is my first love and the others were strong infatuations.

  9. nope but for the people who do they are extremely lucky  : )

  10. no. lots of my friends have been in love before yet they are still out dating and finding new boys or girls to love.

  11. nope. it happens but its very uncommon. if they do marry their "first love" it ends up in divorce a lot of times

  12. I did. I never even held hands with another guy. He was my first kiss, my first boyfriend, everything. And no, I don't feel like I missed out on anything. I feel so lucky that I have had only him to be with. I didn't ever have to go through a breakup like so many people have to.

  13. Most people don't.  I just wanted to comment on the people who said it leads to divorce.  Actually, after you control for age and length of time dating, the divorce rate for people who marry their first love is lower.  That is, as long as they are not getting married younger than other people, or rushing into marriage, people who marry their first love have less of a chance to end up getting divorced based on research I've seen.

  14. I am... He's my first and only...
