  1. I think I'm starting to suffer from the disease called ennui hearing the endless posts of people talking about what they don't believe.  Jehoshaphat!!  Is there something you do believe in?  If so, did it ever occur to you to go to a discussion group on that topic and post your views?  Then you could be a positive influence in the world, rather than a negative one.  Trust me, I doubt that any of the people who think AGW is a serious problem have any interest in what you think, or any interest in changing your mind.  It doesn't appear that you have any interest in what the AGW folks think (because you usually just make up that part), and I don't think there is the slightest chance you're going to change any of their minds because your posting is so fatuous and self-celebratory.  So what's the point, other than heckling?

  2. Not necessarily.

However, the question is what are we as a society to do to alleviate the costs. It is a situation like war, or famine or wide-spreading disease, which requires either extensive preparation and avoidance or some sort of collective reaction.

Suppose for a moment, that it a totally naturally occuring warming or set of random regional climate changes that occurred during a single year or two, instead of slowly over 50-100 years, what could be done at a private level. When suddenly, all of the major coastal cities - not just one or two - are inundated, when the food supply and distribution system is radically disrupted - famine and poverty would become rampant pretty rapidly.

While some areas might fare better than others initially, eventually most all support systems will have to be redesigned to handle these new planetary conditions.

"Social support systems" would have to be in the form of armed forces keeping refugees from certain shorelines or borders. Citizens would receive ration cards or other mechanisms far more draconian than anything dreamt of in our modern imaginings and the reasonably comfortable standard of living would vanish...it isn't pretty.

Now suppose, it's completely inaccurate, what is the worst - most strident proposal on the table, carbon trading/carbon neutral economies, and investment in advanced efficient technologies, the imposition of restrictions upon use of fossil fuels and energy until conventional usage becomes less problematic. Not hugely draconian but inconvenient to be sure.

Largely speaking, out of control fuel prices will independently drive many aspects of this change but wouldn't it have been easier on the average citizen if there had been a little more urban planning and a little more investment in high-efficiency stuff 10 or 20 years ago rather than having to do it all in a hurried rush now.

In all certainly with 100-200 years preparation individuals can plan and act accordingly , it's however unlikely we will have  that luxury.

  3. Aye Matey - it be a most insidious disease.

I have a problem with the Global Warming crowd as for what I've read it targets the wealthy nations who actually produce goods which sustain life on this planet but looks the other way on so-called emerging nations. They seem to be able to get a free-ride on their amount of pollution.  IF Global Warming be true then WHY doesn't it apply to everyone?

  4. Yea, those same stupid liberals who said asbestos, mercury, cigarettes, leaded gasoline,...  wasn't really good for a persons health.    The same scientists are using the same false information trying to ruin your life by not letting you do whatever you want whereever you want to whoever you want.   Dam them health nuts!!!!!

  5. Do people who pretend to be Dr.'s suffer from the disease called nescience?

  6. That is a terrible thing to say. All people's beliefs should be respected and scientific fact is credible for a reason. Do more research before shooting off your mouth and saying hurtful and blatantly unreasonable statements.

  7. You know Yahoo, unless they live in a cave, should know that this is PURELY political and should be in the political section.  Global warming, the support and their so-called scientists do nothing in support of global warming that helps the environment whatsoever.  They wish to alleviate the Earth of all CO2 which will kill all the plants and they also want to prevent third world countries from progressing which means that we will have to support them... As it seems to have always been.

I can see Sally Struthers walking around the Philipines asking for support for dying children, yet telling them that they don't have a future because factories, vehicles, farming and everything else they can do to get themselves out of poverty, contributes to global warming.

  8. Global Warming is real, and I hope my heartbreaking story will rally other concerned Liberals (and Conservatives who have a conscience).

My wife Mimsy and I vacation at our beautiful retreat, not far from the Kennedy compound.  Every year, we have fabulous galas where we talk about Global Warming and raise funds to increase awareness.  The crem de la crem of society fly in just to be part of the gaiety.  The Kennedys have graciously allowed our guests to use their heliport, because not everyone has their own private jet, you know, and helicopters are such a necessity if one is to avoid the plebian mobs at the public airports.

Our global warming awareness soirees are the talk of the island.  Everyone in Hollywood has attended at one time or another.  I suppose even satellites orbiting the earth could pinpoint our sprawling family retreat on global warming awareness day, as the line of parked limousines and SUV's is so long, it should be visible from space!

Well, this past year my wife Mimsy prevailed upon Donna Karan to make her a splendid white pants suit, just like the one Barbra Streisand wore on Oprah a few years ago, except this one is pristine sail white.

Well, the Labor Day weekend finally arrives, and my dearest Mimsy is as excited as her little Bichon Frise at supper time.  Mimsy was ready to greet her guests, resplendent in her beautiful white outfit.  However, we had a terrible cold spell, preventing Mimsy from wearing her cherished new clothes.  It was simply too sheer for the frigid temperature, and Mimsy rightly pointed out it would look ridiculous covered up in some bulky cardigan.

    Mimsy was crestfallen.

I blame the stubborn disbelievers in global warming for my wife's predicament.  Obviously, as the colder winters and shortened summers are proving, Mother Earth is fighting back aginst our relentless attempts to arttifically raise the global temperature.  As we push Mother Earth to the breaking point, she fights back and lowers the temperature.

If we don't take a stand now, and get everyone on board to fight global warming, we're all going to freeze to death!

  9. Didn't you ask this same question yesterday?

  10. Absolutly!!!!! The only cure is time, to prove them wrong on everything. Star for you.

Sh*t, I accidently gave infidel_louie a thumbs down instead of a thumbs up. My bad.

  11. Do people who do *not* believe in global warming suppose computers are wrong?

  12. Please correct that = They want to be called "Progressives".

They wish to progress us into a Socialist State where Almighty God Government controls all aspects of our lives.

They truly believe we are dumb sheep that don't know how to run our own lives.

That does seems to be true for 'progressive' Republican & Democrat voters.  Just look at how uninformed their vote is - they admit they vote for someone that looks and sounds good not the policies they might implement.

  13. Do people who ask questions like this suffer from the disease called narcissism?

  14. Ofcourse!!!
