  1. no.

  2. I think the answer to you question is No, nothing works 100% to repel snakes.  I went to lots of web sites searching for this answer last  month when I saw this big copperhead in our yard.  What I did find out from the good sites, was nothing works.  They said if anything worked they would be first to recommend to keep people from killing the snake. There are tons of people selling snake repellent.

  3. don't believe that snakes have a sense of smell...they do their sensing with their tongues....we use mothballs to discourage moles, voles and chipmunks...helps somewhat.

  4. well if it did you would never know

  5. You may have heard that applying sulfur and/or moth balls around your yard or home will repel snakes.  There are commercial snake repellentt that can be purchased as well.  Bottom line is snake repellents don't work, so don't waste your money.  The repellents make some people feel better for having "done something" to get rid of snakes.  If that works for you or keeps your spouse happy, go ahead and use them. If you want to do something that really works, keep reading.

Habitat modification is the best means to "repel" snakes from your property.  If snakes don't have a reason to hang around your property, they will go somewhere else.  Habitat modification  involves keeping the lawn mowed, control weeds and brush, keep the area free of boards, debris and other trash.  Control mice, rats, and other rodents to deprive snakes of a favorite food source.  In other words, a clean, well groomed landscape with no rodents is less likely to have snakes, and the ones that show up are more likely to be seen. Even this is no guarantee your lawn will be snake free, but unlike the empty promises of snake repellents, habitat modification works.
