Question:

Do mourning doves get along well with parakeets?

I have had a pair of parakeets for years, and when the first one died the second was lonely and I couldn't seem to fill the shoes of his dead friend, so I bought another to keep him company. It worked beautifully, but just yesterday the older one from the first couple died, and now the newer parakeet that is only a couple of years old looks really lonely.

This circle of buying and replacing birds endlessly seems like it could last forever, so I was wondering if anyone knew whether or not a young mourning dove would get along well with a very friendly male parakeet in a nice sized cage?

(I know personalities will come into play here, and I am prepared to have a trial period or have then gradually introduced, but I was wondering about the general acceptance for other bird species these two types have)
