  1. Fasting is only for the healthy so if you are ill, pregnant, elderly or young you do not have to participate. It would not be good for the baby to fast as you can only eat before sunrise and after sunset so depending when Ramadan falls that can mean breakfast at 5.30am and nothing until 9.00pm.  


  2. pregnant women do not have to fast but its good to cut down your food intake , fasting would be bad for your baby as it needs to grow properly .  

  3. pregnant women, young children and the elderly do not have to participate in the ramadan fast if they do not want to.

    they are encouraged to try and fast or limit their food.

    many still take part, fasting between the 1st and 4th prayer of the day successfully.

    all muslims are allowed to eat before 6 in the morning, and after around 5 at night.
