Question:

Do my TVs need digital converters for the DTV switchover?

I have TVs in my house that currently don't have digital set top boxes, but are connected to my cable tv service via direct coax connection. They can tune more than 50 channels (not the k**b tuner)

Will I need converter boxes for these in the DTV transition?

  1. The cable setup serves basically the same function in your case.  You only need the DTV box if you receive your signal via a conventional antenna and not cable or satellite dish.

  2. If you have cable, you will not need the box.  It's only for people who still live in caves or have their own outdoor antennae.
