If they are external, you're in trouble. The testes are formed inside the body and, in most cases, descend into the scrotrum. In rare cases, one or both testes are undescended.

They are actually internal organs that hang far away from the body to help keep sperm cool. They are not external because they are still in the skin or body. An external organ would be ..eyes, or something like that. :)
