Do my eyes open wider in daylight or in PM light?

I work at night. It sems my eyes are open wider during dusk and dawn than morning or afternoon. Is that true?

  1. Your iris is innervated to open the pupil in dark conditions in order to allow more light into the eye to help you see better. During the day, when light is abundant, not all light is needed to see, so the pupil becomes smaller (the iris sphincter contracts).
