  1. No but you have to be an adult to do it without their permission.  Otherwise, your parents will need to give their permissioin, and I don't see that happening.  Best thing to do is to wait until you are an adult.

  2. No you can change your name to anything you want as long as your over 16. Just let everyone know what name you wish to be called by. You can write out a statutory declaration (you should be able to find on on the internet somewhere) and get a solicitor to sign it and that will do for official things like the banks, passport office. The one thing you cant change is your birth certificate. (It costs about a fiver for a solicitor to sign it)

  3. If you are legally an adult you can change your name to almost anything you wish.  If you are underage your parents would have to agree for you to be able to change your name.

  4. No not at all, you can be known by what ever name you choose as long as it isn't for anything fraudulent

You have to be 16 years of age here in the UK, you can change your name by deed poll at the register office now, it costs  around £40:00 and you don't need a solicitor either if you go to the register office.

  5. No i dont think so.

  6. That's so sweet you want to change your name to your mother's. I think all kids should do this in honor of their mother.

  7. You can change your name to anything by deed poll.  You'll probably have to pay for the privilege though.

  8. No, but unless you are not close to your dad then I think you should discuss this with him first.  I have my mothers maiden name due to not having a father.

  9. Hi, It all depends on how old you are, if you are under 18 then your dad will have to give permission for you to change your name, if you are over 18 then you go to the solicitors and they will arrange it for you it costs around £95 to have your name changed by deed poll.  My niece changed her name when she was 18 she hadn't seen her dad for 15 years and when she was old enough she changed her surname.

  10. You can change your name to whatever you like!

  11. No.  There was a young man at school who became an actor and took on his mother`s maiden name.  A friend of mine and her daughter have also reverted to my friend`s single name without any legal recourse.
