Question:

Do my parents need to adjust my status in their life insurance policy?

After getting married, do my parents need to change my status from single to married in the life insurance coverage?

What if I will not tell them that I got married? And I will be buying my own life insurance anyway, with my husband to be.

Sorry if I am totally ignorant about this.

  1. They don't need to change it unless they want to include your husband/family as beneficiaries.

  2. No, marital status has NOTHING to do with it.

  3. They don't need to do anything. If you are looking at getting your own, and you are covered through a child rider, use it to your advantage to convert it to a jumping juvenile policy (5x coverage without proving insurability).

You can get more than that but would have to prove your in good health as well as add your husband to it.  That is probably the best route.
