  1. you  dont  need  any   vaccinees  to  come  to  jamaica

  2. Check with your doctor over there.

  3. Although specific vaccinations are not required for travel to Jamaica, there are several health topics that should be planned for. The US CDC has a complete travel advisory listing for persons going to the country. Link attached.

  4. Mostly just your baby will definitely need to be vaccinated , but you might want to consider getting vaccinated against hepatitis A. I am not sure how clean the water is their.

  5. Hepatitis A-

    Recommended for all travelers.

    Hepatitis B-

For travelers who may have intimate contact with local residents, especially if visiting for more than 6 months.

    Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR)-

Two doses recommended for all travelers born after 1956, if not previously given.

    Tetanus-diphtheria-

    Revaccination recommended every 10 years.

    WARNINGS

An outbreak of Eosinophilic Meningitis caused by a roundworm known as Angiostrongylus Cantonensis was reported among a group of travelers who had visited Jamaica in April 2000. A total of 12 people were affected. The most common symptoms were headache, neck stiffness, numbness and tingling, visual disturbances, photophobia (sensitivity to light), and fatigue. All patients made a slow but uneventful recovery.

Dengue fever, a flu-like illness which may be complicated by hemorrhage or shock, occurs in Jamaica. A major dengue outbreak occurred in 1995, but the number of cases since then has been low. A total of 90 cases were reported in 2002, with no fatalities. Dengue fever is transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, which bite primarily in the daytime and favor densely populated areas, though they also inhabit rural environments.
