Do nationality and race matter on the net?

Ever since I got my first computer, I have met millions of ppl around the world on the net.

Some are nice.. some are not so nice... some are pretty mean.

Well...I noticed that there are always a certain type of ppl who specifically wanna socialize with only ppl of their own race and nationality even on the net.

Why is that?

You cannot see who you are really talking to on the net.

I myself don't care if the person is white or black or hispanic or asian.

I don't care if the person is australian or asian or american or african.

Is it just their preference ?

Why some ppl mind other ppl's race and nationality so much even on the net?

  1. depends

  2. Well, it shouldn't matter, but sometimes it does. I have seen a decent amount of racist comments on sites such as youtube that do not have to be there. However, sometimes it's just preference. I suppose it's human nature to be drawn to somebody that's similar to one's self. I agree, I personally don't care.

  3. good question.

to be honest i think people use standards to hide their preconceived notions of other races and to maybe conceal their racism.

who knows.  that's my only educated guess.  the other one would be just that they are judgemental and biggots.

  4. Some people are ignorant, that's pretty much it. Some do prefer talking to their own race, if someone doesn't want to talk to me just because of my ethnicity then they weren't worth talking to in the first place. Hope that helps. :]

  5. it shouldn't matter on the net or in person who you talk to. but some people are idiots and a few other names i prob can't say. anyway, people are rasited because someone in that race or religion did something to their family and they began to hate everyone the same. or they were rasied in a family who hated this kinda person. it shouldn't matter what you look like. all that really matters is whats in the inside. personality is the best thing you can have.

  6. i see your point but this is not a new thing

    why does the KKK exist?

    why does al quida exist?

people will always have ther bias no matter what

not everyone is as openminded as u or me

they feel they connect with there own people much more then thy ever could with another person from another nation

  7. It shouldn't. I've made tons of friends on the net and have no clue what most of them look like. Granted, having a common language certainly helps but even that is not necessary anymore.

  8. I don't think it's so much that they mind it, but more that they have something in common, and therefore join together to embrace their shared culture, so to speak. =]

  9. NO

  10. That's quite a generalization when you consider there are 6 billion people on our planet, and even if 30% have access to a computer, you're still looking at an enormous amount of computer users out there that you have never met.  I personally haven't had any issues with race, religion or s*x and this is the first time I've even heard of such a thing!  I guess if you're on a dating site or a specific site concerned with meeting other people this will be an issue, it's human nature! Maybe you should change the kind of websites you're visiting?  If your interest is in sports, arts and crafts, world of warcraft, animation, model railroading, rc racing or computer programing, I guarantee you race will not come up.

  11. because they like people of there own colour?

    and because theyre bull headed
