Do need a Pass Port to go to Canada from the States?

If you are a US Citizen:

Currently if you travel by air you will need a passport.  So if you fly to Canada you do.

If you drive across the border you will not need a passport until sometime next year, I believe.  You will need a government issued photo id (a drivers license is usually sufficient) and proof of citizenship (usually an official copy of your birth certificate).  This will change sometime next summer, so you should keep an eye on the state department's web site if you end up going next year.
