  1. Yes you are 100 percent correct. You don't get the title till the vehicle is paid in full. Do you have any kind of other proof that the car belongs to you? Or some other kind of proof that would allow the towing company to relase the vehicle to you? Even though you don't have the title as of yet you should have a paper of some kind saying that the car is yours and that the title is on its way. Even though you have a car note maybe you can work with the place where you bought the car from. Also ask them if they can contact the towing company and  give them proof that the vehicle is yours. You should be able to get something done I would think. Any kind of proof would help I'm sure. Hope this helps .

  2. There should still be a title, with it showing a lien against the car.

If you have plates on it then there is a title. In most cases like this the registration paper work is what is needed.

Now if you did not get it registered you may have a problem that will take a while to sort out.

You may have to get a hold of the lien holder to get the paper work required.

  3. You are 100% right.

  4. Whatever paperwork you used to register the vehicle should be what you need to show the impound yard. Some states issue a "copy" of the title and others issue a title stamped "Lien" on it.
