Do new tires need time to get used to the road?

I got rid of my corolla's 4-year old tires yesterday and got 2 new 5 mm wider pairs from Dunlop, and got the alignment done. Today morning, at a roundabout, the back completely skid off in the road and the car turned 90 degrees and came to a stop. im pretty sure I wasn't speeding or anything. This is a road I've been driving for the past 7 months, and I always drive the way I did today. But for some reason, this time it went wrong. Wat could be the reason? Do the new tires need time to get proper grip? or is there somethin else wrong with my car?

  1. No not at all.......

  2. No, the driver needs time to get used to the new tires.  The tires do not need time to get used to the road.  You were driving as you did on the old tires and expecting the car to handle the same.  You failed to adjust your driving for the difference between the tires.

  3. Of course not
