i think news channels are definitely more preferred over newspapers because news channels have the viewership of even those who dont' know how to read while newspapers certainly do lose out due to the illiteracy of our people

Maybe to some extent.In the final analysis,news channels,because of time constraints and the need to squeeze in as much information as possible within the allotted time,are perforce obliged to only give some highlights.For real details,newspapers still rule the roost and grip the readers' attention.News channels like

The news channels can dress up a story with a lot of fluff and in the delivery from the people presenting the news. Television news has also become more of an entertainment medium than an objective source or news.

Television also involves the primay senses of sight and hearing whereas the printed news involves only sight. One general theory posits that the more senses involved in an endeavor, the more favorable it is for people to be involved.

So I would say televised news does overshadow newspapers.

The newspapers are uually read so One must be literate to read them, whereas the news channels can also be viewed by the illiterate masses. Sotoday, news chnnels are more important and famous than newspapers.

news channels can never overshadow newspapers...newspapers have their ownvalue......most of the news channels(not all of them) exagerrate,spice up news to an irritating extent.....i ve heard tis sayin that..."readin newspapers daily can giv u more knowledge than reading 10 buks...." besides....news articles..newspapers offer interesting editorials...n can help enhance ur language too...
