Question:

Do non-Christians realise, that by singling out one form of Christianity as 'the most likely true Christians'?

..they are offending other forms of Christianity?

What right do non-Christians have to jugde?

For example , things like: " [enter Christian group here] are by far the most tolerant Christians on R&S!"

or: "[enter Christian group here] are most likely the true Christians , because they do not celebrate pagan holidays!'

Non-Christians, when you feel you have the right to judge that one of the Christian groups here is the nicest , do think that it might be offensive to the others. Maybe one group has been more reluctant to try to convert you , but that doesn't mean the other groups don't have nice adherents too! For example, if a Catholic is a really nice person and never tries to convert anybody, is it his fault that some of his fellow Catholics try to convert others, and therefore he is generalised because of that?

Please, do NOT say [ This particular religion] is the most tolerant, because it is not the fault of some adherents that other people misrepresent them!

I respect all religions equally.

  1. answer: Personally, I find its Christians who argue the most over which denomination is right.

I do say that the Amish, Quakers and Unitarians are the most tolerant because they are.  I have yet to see any of those say their way is the only way or attack someone for being in a different denomination.

I do feel I can judge: I WAS a Christian and have studied various denominations.  I can also have an opinion from having watched those from different denominations on the forum.

I stand by what I said: the Amish, Quakers and Unitarians are the most tolerant and loving.

    # # #

I would add that I haven't been approached by any Catholic or Orthodox Christian with demands that I convert.  The problem around here is that not many identify their denominations except some of the more fanatical Christians. (Non-Christians identify their particular brand of paganism/atheism/Judaism as a means of letting others know our unique perceptions or spiritual education).  Not many identify as Catholic or Orthodox.

I don't say "All Christians" or even "All Quakers do or think....."  I do feel some denominations are more tolerant in their teachings and the people drawn to that denomination.

  2. All Christians believe in Trinity and they are born again. They believe the Bible is true and they do not twist and turn the Bible message to fit their purposes

    God allows different worship styles

  3. You're right, scientologists and mormons suck!

  4. you have things rather skewed. there seems to be more bickering among the christian denominations about who's way is the right way & those who believe this way or that way aren't true christians.  it's rather sad really.

  5. Various sects with various beliefs cannot be TRUE CHRISTIANS

They  may be tolerant and believe in some sections of the Word

But  don't believe  in all writings. True Christians believe in what Jesus said .

Strange true Christians emerged in Jehovah's Witnesses in

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jehovah%27s... of a restorationist,[1][2] millenialist[3] Christian denomination of the same name. The religion emerged from the Bible Student Movement, founded in the late 19th century by Charles Taze Russell. The name "Jehovah's Witnesses", based on Isaiah 43:10, refers to their belief that prophecies concerning the restoration of Israel would be fulfilled in Jehovah's Witnesses.[4] It was adopted at a 1931 convention of Bible students while under the leadership of Joseph Franklin Rutherford.

Jehovah Witness knock on doors and if you treat them with the love of God / they keep coming back and try to proselytize their version of the Faith  (Incorrectly. of what the Bible states)

No not all "so called "Christians" are alike.

Some believe in being Born Again.. when nowhere in the BIBLE ( is BORN AGAIN mentioned. ( Nowhere in authentic olden scriptures)

SOME OTHER DENOMINATIONS BELIEVE IN OTHER PROFERINGS NOT IN THE BIBLE

Its Genneo Anothen.. Born From Above

As Jesus was ..In the River Jordon when Baptized by John the Baptist

with Water/ AND THE HOLY SPIRIT ( WHICH COME FROM ABOVE

IN THE FORM OF A DOVE/ AND STATED THIS IS MY BELOVED SON ( very very Clear)

You are born from the womb/.( as Nico said I cant go back to the womb and Jesus replied Nico.. You must be born GENNEO ANOTHEN ( from above with water and spirit)

Jesus did not believe in BORN AGAIN.. That is REINCARNATION

Born TWICE? AGAIN? NO NOT EVER

TRUE CHRISTIANS DONT CELEBRATE PAGAN HOLIDAYS

    Christians don't celebrate Pagan Holidays

Christians such as I celebrate Pasha ( which Jesus did)  Remember me ( In Bible)  Jesus told us to Remember Him ( which we do in Pasha

and follow the tradition that Jesus did ( from Bible)

and Celebrate the Birth of Christ as people DID in the Bible/ The Kings brought myrr/ gold/frankincense/ people rejoiced at his birth and so do Christians.

    TRUE CHRISTIANS DONT CONVERT

True Christians don't convert. They don't Proselytize ( ITS AGAINST OUR LAWS OF FAITH).. It is against the true Christian Faith  and they Follow what is said in Scriptures. ( not revised to their beliefs) the scriptures from ions ago, that are translated in  perfection. ( Copies in England Israel , and all over the World in Greek).(remain in Britain after the British Museum )

  6. How else do you judge a religion except by the actions of its followers?

If someone says, "I'm a Christian," they profess Jesus, then proceed to slam someone else, or misrepresent their beliefs in a deliberate attempt to proselytize others, all the while hanging the threat of h**l over anyone who disagrees, what am I supposed to think?

Either that person isn't a Christian, or that person is a Christian, and in either case, the behavior is unacceptable and deserves to be called out.  In any case, I have every right to judge.

If other Christians, for example, don't open up their mouths and disavow unacceptable behavior, or call their own into account, then what am I left to think but that they support that behavior as well?  And yes, I have seen that on this forum: Christians who know that the behavior of their co-believers is dead wrong, but they won't admit to it or deal with it because it implies siding with non-believers.

I'm not saying that I'm unimpeachable in my conduct here, but then again, I don't make any claims of moral or spiritual superiority.

EDIT--Please note, I'm only using Christians as an example because they are the most familiar to me.

  7. Jesus told us who is right and who is good. Everyone else's opinion are just opinions.

  8. Err...from what I've seen it's almost always CHRISTIANS that do that.  Personally, I think you are all rather crazy.

  9. Honestly, people do have the right to judge who is kind and more tolerant to them.  Your anger at this is not particularly kind or tolerant.

You are sort of arguing against your own point by lashing out when people compliment another group.  Maybe you should look at why compliments to others upset you?

    I hope you feel better.

  10. I really don't recall seeing non-Christians say that any specific denomination or group are the "true" Christians. Non-Christians are thoroughly unconcerned by that sort of thing. It's Christians who get into that debate. As to having opinions about which groups are more likely to be the most tolerant or which ones seem to be the most tolerant, yes I have seen that and I've probably done it myself. The question gets asked and I (and anyone else) has every right to state an opinion based on their observation. Most people are very careful to point out that it's *some*, not *all* and that there are kind, tolerant people in every group.

The truth is if a large percentage of a religions followers act in an unpleasant way what do you really expect others to think of that particular religion? As I stated, most people are smart enough to know that just because some representative of a group act a certain way doesn't mean that all act that way. But most people are going to wonder if a large number of people from one group act in an unpleasant way that doesn't indicate something unpleasant about that group in general.

  11. those approved of God will be well, the others not,

    it matters,

if someone is offended, let them examine their faith and see if it is right.

grace flows from God,  religion is an attempt to reach God, religion fails

  12. I can honestly say i have never heard non Christians say that one group was more Christian than the others. That's usually what Christians say.

  13. To be quite honest with you, it's other christians that do it. Not non-christians.
