Do non-human apes give each other objects, simply for their aesthetic appreciation(non-food and non-tool), or is this only in humans?

  1. apes and monkeys express their feelings by grooming each other, or by protecting each other etc.

they might also offer each other food...or help each other find it...

  2. Chimps use meat in that fashion.  After they catch a monkey or small animal, it is shared with friends.  I never heard of them caring that much about non-food items but it probably happens.

  3. Male apes have been observed giving females oranges, for s*x...

Neanderthal graves have been found with flowers intentionally placed with the deceased...

  4. Green, I like your terminology, because the hominid is in truth a bipedal ape.  While we know some chimps give food to others as something of an offer of friendship & do groom each other as a sign of affection, I find no mention of them giving gifts such as flowers. Some birds do give non functional gifts to potential mates.

  5. I never heard of anything like that but they do know to aim at the face when they throw their pew at you.

  6. What is a non-human ape? An Ape? Like at the zoo or in the jungle? I doubt it. They don't value objects like regular humans do.They know that all that really matters is food and a place to sleep. To have anything else would be silly to them, I'm sure. Where would they keep it? they don't have a house to put things away in.
