Does the us require citizens from other countries to have in invitation in order to visit the states? Or do you just need a passport? What is the length that they can stay?

  1. It depends on yur NATIONALITY.   People from countries on the VIsa Waiver List, may visit for up to 90 days without a visa.  Others must apply for a visa.  Part of that application can be an invitation to visit, tho this certainly does not guarantee that the visa will be granted.  See site below to see list of visa waiver countries.

  2. Non-US citizens do not need an invitation in order to visit the US. They need a passport (except Canadians who enter by land). If they are not citizens of a visa exempt country, they need to apply for a tourist visa at a US embassy in their country. Length of stay is determined at the port of entry by the immigration officer.

  3. / Non U.S. Citizens can visit if they have a passport.  Their passport is stamped with a visa (I-94), and the length varies for purposes of the visit, however generally one can stay an average of 30 to 90 days.  The Immigrant Officer at port of entry will ask nature of visit, then decide the length of stay based on particulars of the visit.

Immigrant visas can be issued up to 2 years depending upon the circumstances.

  4. Non-citizens should have a visitor's visa issued to them by the US Immigration Office before they can set foot in the United States. The immigration officer at the port of entry decides how long they can stay in our country.
