  1. Ummm  wouldn't that be like shocking the plant into a near winter scenario for 30 mins while the ice melted?  I would imagine room temperature water would be more beneficial.

  2. I don't think ice cubes would hurt the plant.  I've done it before.

  3. No - use room temperature water.

Using ice in place of water will damage the root system and cause tissue collapse if put on foliage.

  4. Would have to say NO.  If we think about where any plant started in the first place - outside - the soil would be warm, or just cool, depending on type of plant, i.e. African violets ( cool misty mountainside)cactii, etc.  Rambling here.  Personally I use tepid water.  A situation I've read, where ice cubes are used, is if a plant's soil has totally dried out, and if very peaty, is hard to re-moisten, without sitting pot in sink or basin of water to allow the soil to absorb water.  The ice cubes are used when someone doesn't have the time at the moment to use the basin method.  Hope this helps.

  5. no. the cold water will kill them. it is best to use room temp. water
