Do north america grant gives out real free money to people or is it just a scam?

a place call north america grant sent me a letter saying that i was entitled to 45,000 dollars than they sent me a check for 2,995 to corver other things but when i put the check in the bank the check ws return back to them the bank said it wasn't a real check it this place a scam or will i get my money

Since the check didn't go through, it sounds like a scam.

Well, one thing grants are just given to anyone,

so think if you were qualified enough to get one.

If not, then its probably a scam.

Also, if that letter had a contact number or something, it would be best to call that and figure out everything by talking to them.
