Do northern map pet turtles act the same as red ear sliders?

I have an res turtle and i want to get a northern map. I was wondering if anything I need to do is different to setup its tank and take care of it.

Maps are much different  than sliders.  diet is different ,maps are much larger for the most part and are from fast moving water systems.sliders the opposite. buy a good turtle book or 2 and read up before you buy any animal. and consult an expert  with experience don't listen to newbies with opinions By the way Josh your answers here on yahoo  PROVES you have A minimal amount of knowledge on the subject. keeping a few turtles alive doesn't make one an expert . keeping multiple generations in captivity while reaching major life moments  successfully. for example. successfully , brumating ,breeding incubation of eggs  and hatching, then raising said offspring up as future breeders make one an "expert" all else = NEWBIE
