Francesco Guidolin, head coach of the Stadio Friuli outfit, has gone on to remark on the spirit of the Udinese players, while reflecting on their prior achievements.
The Zebrette were one of the shining lights of the Serie A during the 2011-12 season, and performed exceptionally well against the bigger teams during their last campaign. Despite getting knocked out of the Europa League round of 32 in the last season, they
did not let that fact put a downer to their season and went on to secure the third place of the Serie A which meant that the team would go on to contest for the Champions League football.
However, Udinese were not able to secure victory in the qualification rounds and had to contest for the Europa League once again. This had prompted Guidolin to hand in his resignation, and the Italian was filled with grief and emotion upon the failure of
his team to secure a place in the group stage of the premier European competition.
They have been far more inconsistent this season compared to the season before and they have not been able to accumulate as many points as they have had at this stage as compared to the previous season. Guidolin reiterated that despite the fact that the
Lega standings might be different this year compared to the years past, it was still no reason to overlook the efforts that the players put in week in, week out.
He further remarked that he sees hunger in the eyes of the players to do better and furthermore reflected on the prospects of some of his players. He hoped that some of the players would be able to emulate the excellent players who have left the club in
the past. Guidolin went on to state:

Asamoah, Isla and Handanovic were sold to bigger clubs as the Friulani were unable to say no to the cash offered by those clubs for the players.
