Question:

Do not remember being involved in an accident?

Insurance phoned yesterday saying that they have received an allegation I may have been involved in an accident in April!!! Here goes:

1. If I was working at the time I do not drive to work!

2. I do not remember causing an accident!

3. Not the exact date but I remember a similar coloured car followed me to work somewhere early April. I was **** scared because I saw some kind of metalic object waving i.e. a knife

4. I was so scared driving away I did not take down the license plate and report it to police.

5. Car had intermittent starting problems at time as it is.

So what do I tell my insurance? Should I tell them about the psycho stalker or not? So far I have stressed that it was not me and they said that they will get back to me within 3 weeks. Its a nightmare. I think my car may have been cloned. I dont want to be locked up because the colour on my car matches another cars... and I dont know how it got there... but its like someone is trying something...

Thank you

  1. Confidence is important. You would remember being in an accident. Say: No, i was definatly not in an accident. Also its June now, 2 or 3 months later and they track you down now, they mustnt have much to go on so dont stress! Good luck.

  2. Tell them the truth. Either you were involved in an accident or you were not. Saying "I don't remember" makes you sound guilty.

  3. Do check it really was your insurance company & not some stupid scam artist trying to get information out of you.

Have you got their name & number?  Call them back to make sure.

Otherwise I imagine you could just have told them what time you leave for work every morning, which days you work, which routes you take.......

  4. Be adament to the insurers it wasnt you.  My friend was in an accident (not her fault) told her insurer the other drivers details, other driver told the insurers it wasnt her.  Case closed.  Anyway you can prove you were at work.

Also maybe you should go to the police about this just so it goes on thier records for the future.

  5. Deny it the onus is on the other party to prove it was you , look back and see if you were at work to ease your own mind , The car following you seems irrelevant , a clone seems a lot more likely

  6. Now, I'm a little confused, because you put "I do not drive to work!" and then you put "a similar coloured car followed me to work"

Either you do/did or you don't/didn't drive to work, but you need to be 100% one way or the other because if you say, what you've said above, to your insurance company they will just do you over big time!

You need to tell the insurance company that you WERE NOT involved in any incident (if you weren't that is!).

If the incident is, as your insurance company is implying, an allegation of failure to stop at the scene of an incident, then surely the police would have been informed, and they would have most definitely have been in touch with you for a little chat by now!!

Now, if your insurance company doesn't believe you, you're in trouble, and you need to seek some legal advice! At the end of the day, the police should have a record if something DID occur, if they haven't you SHOULD be ok!

Last of all - are you sure a mate isn't winding you up?!!

    Good luck :)

  7. tell them the truth

try to work out exactly what you were doing on that date and who you were with it might jog your memory

depending on the time and date of this incident - if you were in work how could you have been involved!

if you did not do anything then it is the other persons word against yours - if nothing is proven the insurance companies will just deal with it between themselves

Have you looked at your car to see if it has any scratches on it?  If you had a serious accident  you would remember and their would be evidence.  Try not to worry - easier said than done I appreciate.

  8. Did you loan your car to anyone ?  Seems to me that everyone/anyone would remember if/when  they were involved in an accident ?   I suspect there is more to your story than you are stating here.  In any case, you have little choice but to report this to your insurance company and the police as well.

  9. Maybe something flew out your window and the other car got it. If you weren't in a car accident just tell them. Also there alot of weird people just messing around with you, make them have a full report, such as where it happen, when, how?
