Do not ruin my career, pleads Umar Akmal – Cricket News Update
Pakistan’s young batting sensation, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Umar-Akmal-c94595, has expressed once again that he can represent the Green Shirts in all three formats of the game and understands that performance is the only way through which he can silence his critics.
In recent times, there has been immense criticism over the right-handed batsman for playing rash strokes and failing to take the responsibility on his shoulders. It is primarily the reason why the cricketer from Lahore has been restricted
to the limited-over sport in recent times.
While talking to Pakpassion, the 22-year-old cricketer expressed that many analysts speak against him just for the sake of criticism. However, the aggressive batsman is keen to work hard and perform more consistently to answer his opponents
in style.
“Runs and lots of them is the only way that I can get people off my back. I know that whatever I do, however many runs I make there will always be people out there who will take cheap shots at me,” said the young batsman.
The stylish batsman has so far represented Pakistan in 16 Tests, 70 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 40 T20s. Umar is averaging 38 runs per innings in the 50-over format, including a hundred and 16 half-centuries, which is quite impressive
for  someone who gets to bat at number five or six.
After http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 last year, the budding player was dropped from the Test side, although his stats in the 5-day version are not bad either, averaging 35.82 runs per innings.
Umar admits that he has made some mistakes in past and needs to improve his shot-selection; however, he pleaded for support from the cricketing ranks in the country as he is still young and has lots of years of international cricket
ahead of him.
The youngster mentioned, “People tend to forget that I am only 22, don’t try to ruin my career before it has got off the ground. I will make mistakes, all young cricketers do, but I know I can be an integral part of the Pakistani batting
line up in all three formats if given.”
