  1. Marine Corps officers are some of the finest men this country has to offer. The action they see is often dependent on their MOS and various other factors. The MOS is decided at TBS unless you're going for Aviation or JAG, in which case you've already got a slot for that training. Ground Officers, Primarily infantry start as platoon leaders, leading approximately 45 men with whom they are attached to. In the marine corps officers lead from the front, they are right there shooting with enlisted and are expected to make decisions from the field while in the line of fire. Simply put, yes marine corps officers see action. They also have a lot more to worry about while in the ****, rather than just watching their sectors.FORECON is no longer around under the name Force Recon, and some of their major objectives has recently been switched around. Since the creation of MARSOC the two Force Recon detachments have been replaced by 2 MSOB (marine special Operations Battalion) Most of the marines in MSOB were pulled from Force Recon and while many of the same objectives remain there are differences, MSOB's also report to United States Special Operations Command, and are official US special Operation Forces.

  2. Ofcoarse recon is still around! They'll never go anywhere. Even tho the Rangers steal all the glory, the recon will never be eliminated.

Officers in both the Army and Marines do the exact same thing and thats lead. Some do it from a chair and the better ones do as NCO's do, and lead by example. Theres alot to be said for ROTC versus OCS officers. But it's something you learn on your own I suppose.

Anyway, dont listen to these knuckleheads.

  3. In the Marines officers lead from the front. Not like the Army. Read a bit about Chesty Puller and you will learn what it is all about.

  4. FOCON is gone and Infantry officers see combat to an extent. Recon officers stay back and coordinate missions.
