  1. Yes they do. The newer ones are designed to be more energy efficient.


  2. NO. Electric dryers are 100% effecient as are all electrical appliances and heaters. The only way to loose effeciency is through dust and dirt on the coils. Go to Lowes and look at the energy rating on dryers, they are all 100% effecient. Only by having larger coils and more air do they dry quicker but 100% is 100%. HVACRR Tech. 15 years

    Gas dryers are even less expensive to use, but you pay a premium when you buy a gas dryer.
