Do olympians get prize money and a medal or do they ?

yea only medals. Although Phelps got a bonus 1 million bucks for getting 7 gold medals

I'm pretty much sure they only get a gold plated medal, besides the honor of getting a gold medal is worth more in my opinion. Also, the Olympians might get sponsors to earn money. I think Phelps got sponsored in a commercial.

Just medals from the IOC but they receive allowances and incentives from their country's National Olympic Committee

It all depends on what country you are from. Some countries pay ypu extra for every gold medal you win. So it just depends on where you live. Canada for example pays there players extra if they win a gold metal.

Just a medal from the IOC (International Olympic Commitee), but some leaders offer athletes incentives like Russia's Putin offered 150,000 dollars to any Russian gold-medalist and I think 100,000 for silver and 50,000 for bronze.

I am almost certain that here in the U.S Olympians get money for their medals, but in the way to continue their training expenses.

Now, having many medals like M.Pelph, will allowed you to make extra money in sposorship. ( Millions of dollars) not bad !!
