  1. It depends on the sport, if there is a pro-league then they are most likely playing in that league.

  2. im sure some do, some they train most of the day, and some r only 16 so... it varys a lot

  3. In the U.S. most of them do, as we are one the few countries that doesn't support it's athletes solely as athletes. Some large companies like UPS not only sponsor athletes that they employ, but give them flex time to train. The vast majority of American athletes do have job of some kind or another, they just devote every spare moment to training.

  4. it depends on their training and how much money they make from sponsors and stuff

  5. I think so but you never know

  6. Yeah, right. They deliver papers and flip burgers like regular folk !  NOT

They get corporate sponsers, for some, and the US Olympic committee pays after they make the team.

  7. I don't know about all the others, but I know that quite a few male gymnasts live in free dorms that are in a gym so they can dedicate their lives to gymnastics...crazy.  Though Justin Spring is a coach at some college.

  8. Home Depot advertises that its employees compete in the Olympics, so I guess some of them have regular jobs.

  9. Most athltes have regualar jobs, becuase for example if they dont make the olympics then they need to work and train. I know becuase my clubs masters son isgoing to the olympics and has a degree in law.

  10. Many of the ones from wealthy nations are able to afford to train most of the time. Those from poorer nations are more likely to have real jobs.

This is one complaint some people have about the Olympics, because the athletes are supposed to be amateurs, but an athlete who trains so much without having a real job is considered by some to be beyond "amateur" status. There is some validity to such claims.

  11. no. like most top athletes today to be at the top of your sport there is no time for a regular job, those days are long gone amateur sport as it was no longer exists at the top level these so called amateurs are all basically professionals being sponsored by big business etc so no need for a regular job, these athletes have to train basically everyday. endorsements by businesses etc can add up to millions of dollars for these so called amateurs but you have to be the best to attract these opportunities, for the ones that dont make it, they can always try repoting on tv and radio

  12. The bigger named athletes are prob professional sports players but some of the smaller athletes are regular people with regular jobs.
