Do olympic athletes stay after their events are finished? or do they stay for closing ceremonies?

The closing ceremonies are great. It's a hugh celebration. The athletes walk in together, not by country. There's entertainment. And the men's marathon ends with the runners finishing the race in the stadium. And if the closing ceremonies are anything like the opening ceremonies, they'll be fantastic!!!

I think a lot of them probably stick around unless they are disgusted with their performance or have other obligations to attend to. From what I can remember, the closing ceremonies are a lot like the opening...dancing, cheering, and then putting out the flame.

I guess it depends on how they do on their event, if their mad they probably leave. and arn't the closing ceremonies when they give out the medals?
