  1. no because you never really get to know the person or spend time with them. anything they tell you online you don't even know if it's the truth. just talking to someone online is not a relationship.

    I have a girlfriend who was with her boyfriend (now fiance) for 5+ years, and they're getting married next month and they met online.

    I think the only way to make an online relationship work is to eventually meet in person because you can't hold a normal conversation when chatting online. When chatting online, a person can idle for some amount of time, come up with a great answer to tell the man/woman they are interested in, and type out a very well-thought-out response. When having a normal face-to-face conversation, it's not the same.

    Also, lies can be an issue when having an online relationship because there's no real way to tell a person's gender, age, etc.
