Do organic shampoos work?

I bought a small bottle of organic, sulfate free shampoo/conditioner. It's a brand called giovanni. Do they work?

I switched to Avalon Organics and I wasn't thrilled. I was so used to the sudsing of regular shampoos. But after about a month on Avalon, I decided to try the No-Poo shampoo method. Like the answer above, I use baking soda and water to wash my hair, and apple cider vinegar and water to rinse it. I only wash the roots, and only condition the middle and ends. It's been about three weeks. Your hair gets oilier at first as it gets used to the new program, but then it evens out. My hair is perfectly clean. I wish it were shinier, so I think I'll try some olive oil.

If you're interested, google "no-poo shampoo". You're smart to get away from commercial shampoos. They're full of junk your hair doesn't need.

I've never tried an organic shampoo, but my bff uses them, and she has nothing bad to say about them.  And she's PICKY about shampoo!

I use "no-poo", personally.  Just baking soda and cider vinegar.  It's fabulous!  I've had so many problems with shampoo's, and I haven't been able to get my hair soft without chemical treatments for YEARS, but the baking soda and vinegar work perfectly every single time.  It's AWESOME!

ETA:  Oh, and I've been using this for about 6 months or thereabouts.  Still works great!

I use a botanical shampoo and it works great. I have a dry scalp and I use a line from Aveda. There are alot of nasty chemicals that are used in shampoos and other beauty products. I like to use the skin deep data base to see how safe a product is. Just because it says it is organic, it doesn't mean it doesn't contain other chemicals.

Yes they do.  I've been using an organic shampoo I bought at a Whole Foods store and it works as well as anything else I've used.
