  1. I dont' know if they mix grade levels in classes now, but when I was in high school they did. I was so scared about this at first, but soon I loved it becuase it gave me more chances to make more friends.

When I was in school, I went thru grades 1-8 with the SAME kids in the SAME classes, EVERY year!!

  2. Yes, there will be students from other grade levels in your classes.  For example, a freshman who failed Algebra last year will have to retake it this year as a sophomore.  Also since there are more choices of what to take students may choose to wait a year to take something so that it fits better in their schedule.

  3. There may be but for the most part your classes will be just freshmen.  However, you will find that your electives may be mixed.  I know in my school though this doesn't really happen in electives until sophomore year.  And, while students pick their classes and can "mix" up how they take their classes there is a pretty set routine; Eng. I - freshmen, Eng. II - sophomores, etc...

As an English teacher who teaches all 9th graders I have had only one or two 10th graders in my English I classes.  Usually, the class doesn't even know that the person is a sophomore. And, if you are concerned they are going to pick on freshmen, don't be, they wouldn't dare to try, 1) they are outnumbered, and 2) they'd be drawing attention to the fact that they had to repeat a class!
