Question:

Do other parents keep their kids shoes on whilst at playgrounds?

I have 3 kids. When we go to the park, they all want to go on the play equipment. I hate them taking off their shoes (but they usually want to because most of the other kids are barefoot) in the playground. I am definately not a paranoid mum but when it comes to this I am. I can't bear the thought of them getting cut by glass or even worse, a needlestick injury. What do other mums and dads think/do?

you can get much information in this website, If you will check anyone blue link in website.

  2. My little girls tend to want to go around barefoot all the time. It kinda ticks me off too. They want to go to the store barefoot-im like you cant do that and then it ends in a big debate and me having to be the "bad parent".

One of my nieces, she ended up getting glass in her foot the other day. Came crying to me about it-i was like well what do you expect, you never wear your shoes! She really got this buried up into her foot and ended up having to go to the doctor for it.

  3. I would never take my kids shoes off at the playground, no matter how much they beg. You never know what is on the floor. Our local playground even has a sign up discouraging children from removing their shoes

  4. let them wear their good shoes to the playground and if they wanna play bring them theyre play shoes

  5. do what you like. At the end of the day, they are your children. Just don't wrap them too tightly in cotton wool. :)

  6. If they are outside on a playground then shoes stay on, no matter what!  If they are inside on one of those play areas that you can't wear shoes then we take off the shoes but have socks on.  The only place my little one goes barefoot is at home or at the pool.

  7. At the playground I would definitely have my children keep their shoes on.   The local playground here has woodchips under part of the equipment, and those present a big risk of getting slivers in the foot.  There also tends to be pinecones and pineneedles mixed in, and those pineneedles can be VERY painful if they get stuck in your skin.

Under the other part of the playscape is that stuff made from recycled tires, and that tends to get HOT, which would also hurt barefeet.

Besides that, some people throw trash on the ground, birds p**p, and I'm sure that random wildlife pee and p**p on the ground too.

I have NEVER seen a child barefoot on the playground, other than a few in the sandbox (and those barefoot kids in the sandbox are not my kids).

  8. yes - there's glass , sharp stones . ever try getting off a swing or merry go round barefooted , even a sharp stick , ask yourself this, other than toddlers in the sand box which could also have glass or nails in it , how manny kids do you see at a playground with their shoes off? (:>))

  9. Oh c'mon..no decent parent allows kids barefoot on the playground.

  10. My kid isnt allowed outside without shoes on incase of prickles etc, she definitely cant go outside our gates with no shoes

  11. Our local tv station recently did a study of local playgrounds and the hazards related to them.  When recycled tires are used as a surface covering, the temperature of it could give a child serious burns on his feet and legs.  One child actually had to be taken to the hospital from this.  The temperature of the equipment - slides, climbing apparatus, swings, if they are made of steel, can actually get hot enough to cook an egg!  They proved it.

Aside from this, if your local playground surface is covered with wood chips or other materials, you need to consider what else could be in it and where it came from...some children spit, toss out chewed gum, could be anything in there and you might not see it!

Protect your kids and keep the shoes on.  Don't let them jump off the proverbial bridge just because everybody else does.

  12. All I had to do for my kids was talk about how animals might be peeing or pooping on the surfaces they wanted to run barefoot on and they thought that was disgusting enough to just keep their shoes on.  At least most of the time....

If you can, let them wear shoes that stay on but perhaps are more open... maybe they also get sweaty feet.  Maybe some sports sandles or some type of athletic shoe that is more open might encourage them to leave them on.

  13. Better paranoid than sorry ...okay I changed the expression!. I say go for safety, every single time I go to a playground I find a piece of glass - they may be for young kids during the day but they're often a great meeting place for older "kids" at night who think the garbaage bins are jsut for show, its just not worth the risk, even if your kids think you're being a pain the ***. Thanks to the person who told her kids that animals/birds pooped and wee-d on the ground,  will be using that one myself this summer!!
