Question:

Do other people do this too? ?

I find that I make a set of rules for myself to follow (like in my head, not on paper) and they are the most ridiculous rules but somehow I find them important, like if I don't follow them, than something bad will happen to me or it will make me look weak.

If I break the rules than I get really freaked out that something bad will happen to me.

My question is: Do other people do this too? and, do you think it's normal?

Thanks.

  1. No, this is not normal. You are a paranoid perfectionist putting unnecessary stress and fear into your life. Please get help so you can get out of this OCD cycle.

  2. i have a bs in psychology and it sounds like maybe you have a little OCD you find that you HAVE to do them...like do you have something in your brain URGING you to do these things?

  3. I can tell that this is bugging you.  If anything you do or think is preventing you from having a "normal" day, then yes, it is a problem.  You may have a touch of OCD.

OCD is very treatable.  Talk to your doctor about it.

    Good luck!

  4. You'll have to explain it better then that, hun. Like how specific are these rules?

I don't think I live like that. Like, I keep a general sense of what I have to do and do it, but I do think a lot of people set specific rules.

  5. Sounds like you're superstitious to me. Even though you've made up your own customized things to beware of.

I can think of only 1 such rule for myself right now. If I oversleep and get up after 10 (on a day off), the whole day's ruined and there's no use trying to start anything decent. I hate myself for that rule but I can't help it, plus I take it out on others for letting me sleep in.

  6. Could it be OCD? Obsessive Compulsive Behavior? I feel like that too, sometimes. Like needing to check whether the door is locked, some kitchen appliance switch is turned off, or needing to something in a certain manner, otherwise I would not be satisfied and feel the need to redo the exact same thing again.

Or could it be this instead? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obsessive-c...
