  1. Yes.  Part of the thrill of the Olympic games is watching a diverse mix of sporting event and learning the rules, the competitors, etc.  Sometimes that even means watching a sport where your country is not participating.  Hopefully, we then learn about other countries interests and maybe even get so inspired that we try that sport ourselves.

So, to answer the initial question there are so many sports to choose from I'm not sure why we are continuing to be inundated with the same sports.  And, for that matter, the same athletes.  We have hundreds of athletes with hundreds of different stories - I would like to hear more about them.

  2. I like watching team events, but I also like watching the diving, swimming, and track n field too.  I feel your pain, cuz in the states we haven't seen one game of the "Redeem Team" live, or even replayed for that matter, and from what I hear they are kicking the s**+# out of the competition this year.  Would love to witness just one good ole fashion American drubbing before it's all over.

  3. no swimmin is awesome go mike!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

  4. I'd prefer to see a bigger variety of events too instead of seeing heat after heat of swimming events.

If something crazy happens in a swimming heat (like if Phelps has a bad race and doesn't move on etc.,) they can always cut back to it and replay it for us.

Considering that NBC has USA, MSNBC, and CNBC (I think) also broadcasting olympic events, I'm a little disappointed at how few sports they're actually covering on TV.

  5. Yes!!! Another night, another chance for Channel 7 to ignore one of the best teams Australia has produced ... but ofcourse, they would have no idea about that!!! Come on 7 ... is there any chance at all of having a minute or two of Hockey LIVE at any stage of these games??????

  6. I actually don't like watching the long, team sports like basketball, baseball, etc.  I prefer the shorter events like swimming, diving, gymnastics.  I even like beach volleyball.  But I have no interest in watching a soccer or field hockey match.
