I just want to know if it is true that when the right ovary produces eggs this month, the left one will produce next month. I had a HSG and my right tube they say is blocked (Though I'd rather have faith it is open). What can I do to maximise the cycle I will be producing on the good side of the tube? DH's count was 9 million with 10% motility some months back, but we got new results this morning that it's gone up to 28 Million with 50% motility and morphology. I believe his result is good enuf to get me pregnant now so please help a sister as I've been TTC for 13 months now

  1. No, they do not alternate.  Both ovaries develop follicles each month but which side you ovulate out of is completely random.  Whichever side develops the follicle first wins.  Good luck to you!

  2. No ovaries do not have a pattern.  They don't alternate as often as we think.  Can the drs help with a blocked tube?  Maybe the dr can give you some advice.

  3. Yes, if your ovaries are intact, they'll alternate sides each month. If you had had them removed, they would ovulate on the working side every month (the body quickly compensates for the loss of the ovary) but I've also heard that it's possible that if, for example, the right tube is removed, the other tube will suck up the egg when it comes out the right side. Crazy eh? Not sure that it happens every time, but I wonder if it would also happen with a blockage. Who knows!

Good news about sperm count increase. That's fabulous. I would certainly check with your RE about options for maximizing your chances at least every other month. Best of luck!
