  2. Yes: "kids" is probably the most common. In our (very average London-based) family, we use a mixture -- kids, children, little 'uns, young 'uns... This morning, with two of them clamouring to go to the park before breakfast, I'd probably go with "little monsters".  ;D

    AckiLee: "lads" isn't used of children. It's used of or by men (aka blokes, lads) -- the phrases you'd really hear are: "I'm off down the pub with the lads" or "Are you playing footie with the lads tomorrow?"  

    Ok, bye now. As soon as I get done with work (and a quick YA session while my huge heap of email is downloading!) I'm off home. Then I'll take the kids to the park. =)

    "lads" specifically refers to young men, not children.
