If i get a new passport, with this show previous journeys to and from different countries from my old passport?

Or will my old passport still contain details on every visit/exit I made? (i.e. to the US)

Please help

  1. No, your new passport will issued with lovely blank pages for you to fill up with visas & stamps.

I don't think the passport itself logs your comings & goings but your entry & exit should be recorded in the countries you've visited.

  2. there are 2 ways your passport is tracked, the old 'stamp' with date of entry/exit, and the new computer scan.

You can get a 'new' passport or get extra pages for your current passport. the new passport will have all of the same info as your old one, but you have to justify a new passport, i.e. your old one was stolen/lost.

Any place you have been that scans your passport will still have that record digitally and any authority that has access to that info will be able to see where you have been.

In certain particular cases, you may be issued a secondary passport, your a businessperson doing business in Israel ...and, say Jordan or Egypt.

    This is very rare.

But if you travel accross countries that do not like each other...

to answer directly If you get a 'new' -passport, only the digital record of the scans of your passport will exist. the new passport will not contain country stamps.

  3. Providing you are speaking of a U.S. passport...  Your new passport is just that... new.  It's time to start traveling and collecting stamps!  Your old passport will be returned to you in a "cancelled" status for use as a keepsake.  Records of your previous entries/exits are stored electronically by the respective Immigration authorities of each country.  Thus if you develop some 'unusual' travel patterns (i.e. same route weekly), you may fall under additional scrutiny due to security concerns.

  4. .

When you renew your passport , your new book will be empty without any stamps.

You are given your old passport back, (in the USA) so you can keep it ...

I am not sure if other countries give your old passports back.

Anytime you travel outside your country and enter a country there will be records of your comings and goings.  All your international records: entries and exits  are kept even after you renew your passport.

If you have an  I-94 or any other type of additional visa in your old passport that is still valid, read below

    FAQ about Visas

You may travel to the United States on a valid visa in an expired passport as long as all the biographic information on your visa (name, date of birth, nationality, etc.) matches the same information on your new passport. Ensure that the visa has not been hole-punched or damaged in any other way.

If your passport expires while still in the US  on a F-1 or any other visa :

You will need to obtain a new passport before it expires. You must apply for a new passport at the closest Embassy or consulate representing your country in the U.S. You will have to carry both passports at all times. Remember, it is your responsibility to verify that all your documents are valid at all times If, for example, your name has changed or is spelled differently in your current passport, you must reapply for a new visa

A visa is valid for the time stamped on the visa even when the passport is no longer valid. As long as the visa is not damaged in any way and you have not changed your nationality, you may carry the "old" passport containing the valid visa and the new passport when you travel, presenting both at the point of entry. The Consulate will not transfer a visa to the new passport.
