I have my own opinions, but want to know other peoples opinions.

Does a wage rate/salary show our real value to society. For example, someone who earns £50000 a year does more work for society than a person who say, earns £25000 a year?

  1. To a point.  Physicians are more valuable then cashiers.  Accountants are more valuable than cashiers.  But not as valuable as Physicians.

  2. No.

It shows the value of their work to the economy.  There are many other values than monetary ones.

  3. salaries are determined by demand-supply rules and not by the quantity of work added to productive process. Down the same suppositions usually the quantity of work added by one worker is not a lot different of another. The difference will be given by the demand of its specific kind of work and it will determine its value or salary.

In the case of difference of salaries between professionals, technician and non-skilled workers; we can reinterpret the demand-supply scheme where the hours of studying can be seen like hours of work differed in time.

The case of CEO can be seen too like people with particular knowledge which have good net of contacts or access to privileged information...

This points show us society does not value the work only by the quantity of labor added to productive process, else too by the needs or demands of certain particular kind of work...

  4. Not at all. My value to society is in the quality I put into raising my children. I am college educated and find my time has more value at this point in my life being dedicated to my kids. They will be good wholesome people and I find that the best reward & contribution I can make to man-kind.

There will be a time for me to make money and acquire things but for now my kids are where its at!!

  5. Hello Kiagu

In our society, Its who know and who wants to help you. It has nothing to do with what you make. People bust there butts for almost nothing and do it every day. People bust there butt and make great money but they most likely got the job because there dad owns the co.

We've all had that job, the manager is a twit and has no clue. But yet he runs a business and relies on the employees to cover his or her ***.

Another good example would be governments. WOW.

It doesn't matter, you could work at Taco Bell for 10yrs and be the best candidate, just to have joey put his old high school friend in a better paying position.

What you need to do is ask what social qualities and values does a person need to make you want them as a friend.

I personally despise the class structure that society has, don't talk to someone if they make less money than you, if there not as pretty as you, if there tall or short, smart, funny, athletic, ect ect.  Face it, there's people that make allot of money you hope you'll never meet. There's people that make c**p that you hope you'll know your whole life. Or vise verse.

Basically, try not to judge anyone until you know them. Everyone is an individual. They have good qualities and bad qualities.
