Do people actually believe that 2012 is just a ploy to get money?

That's freaking idiotic. I don't know what's going to happen in December, 2012, but I can guarantee you the Mayan calender has nothing to do with scaring people or getting money. It ended, and started over, therefore making it seem like there would be an apocalypse and then civilization would start all over. It's outrageous how people could possibly think it's about freaking money! I mean, how would they even get money? "Uh, the world's going to end cause this calender thingy said so, so give us a million dollars before 2012..."

People would run screaming before they gave them their money! Great, now I'm upset...

Sorry, history geek...

  1. It's a new cycle...I don't believe anything unusual will happen,  but it's not like I don't hope something will happen either.

  2. Take heed for 2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of lawlessness' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. Many pagan cultures from every corner of the world (Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching {confirmed by T.McKenna}, Mayans{Pacal Votan}, Egyptians, Celts, Satanists, etc...) celebrate this evil event called "the abomination that causes desolation". When will Yeshua Ha'Mashiach (Jesus) come? Only God Himself knows, but soon. If you believe or not, that is up to you. Either way it still comes.

Things to look for to PROVE it to yourself soon:

    >Crash of American banks and its financial underpinning: Operation Sitting Duck

    >Fall of America as an economic power and other ways.

    >The Big One: Revelation 18. America goes down on the list of fabled societies nobody believes in any more like Atlantis, Mu, Lemuria, Hyperborea, etc..

    >Martial law. (Google some of Bush's executive orders concerning it- Nightmarish!)

    >Implementation of Project Bluebeam (be ready to hear more and more 'alien talk'... watch your local skies for the show!) Google and youtube it. Aliens... aliens... aliens...

    >Trying to make people first accept the REAL ID card (to get you in the system) and then right after forcibly implanting people with these RFID microchips:

    >The start of the North American Union.

    >Push to attack Iran which will start WW3-the atomic war to end all wars. (If you think China, Russia, and the Muslim world would just sit back, you are a mistaken fool!)

    >Final push to one world government: The New World Order- The 4th Reich!

(The brutal final empire foreseen by Daniel and John)

    >Rise of a miraculous and awe mesmerizing world leader later to turn world dictator.

    >Push to one world religion where there are "manys ways to God".

    >Toleration of everything but Jews and Christians.

    >Temporary and unheard of "peace in the middle east".

    >More world wide food shortages and famines.

    >More earth quakes. More fires. Strange and severe weather.

    >Major spiritual awakenings.

    >Rise of Islamic fanaticism.

    >Rise in wickedness and corruption.

Christians and Messianic Jews look forward to this as it means they will soon join their Messianic Saviour in the Millennial Kingdom of the next Age and their Heavenly Father later as "Children of Light". If you try to equate 2012 with Y2K or some other date that cried wolf, then you will be making the worst mistake in your life. Research all these things FOR YOURSELF!

  3. I wish more people like you existed! It is amazing how many people actually believe in this stuff. I am glad you understand that this is no more than a ploy to get money. I'm more of a US history geek than a indian civilization geek, but either way I know that the mayan's didn't predict that the world was going to end. These morons that write these so called "books" will jump at anything and turn it into a doomsday theory. And people follow like ducks. They get out their little posters the day before and go running around yelling "THE END IS NEAR! PREPARE TO DIE!" And then when the world doesn't end, they run back to their little houses and wait for the next theory to come up. Each are get more absurd exponentially. It is all a ploy to make money. 2012 is nothing more than another Y2K and 6-6-06.

EDIT: Whoa hang on a second. After reading your question again I notice I didn't understand it entirely. It is a ploy to get money. These so called "scientists" write these absurd books about the world ending, and people buy them. Thats what they did for 2000, and all the other doomsday years. But at least you know that the world isn't going to end in 2012 and is a ridiculous theory.

  4. It's idiotic, gullible and naive to NOT see all this 2012 "end of the world" stuff for what it is - a load of hogwash conjured up by people who realise what a great tool fear is for generating money.

  5. I definitely got a kick out of Sitchin's book. Probably was just a scam to see how many people would buy his book; the guy was just a plain idiot anyway. Complete bogus. I'm sure all the websites now complaining and bitching about 2012 just want to see which can get the most views. I call it a virus.

  6. Someone, or ones, will latch onto it to build hysteria, if they haven't already. Wacko's have been scamming people since time immemorial with, "The Sky is Falling, The Sky is Falling," fear mongering. One need only look at all the nutso cults that crop up almost daily.

EDIT: BTW, Y2K didn't happen as feared BECAUSE of all the work done behind the scenes by thousands of engineers and programmers who worked around the clock to fix the bug. It not only existed in software, but also in firmware and hardware and threatened all the major industries, including utilities, banking, manufacturing, telecom, and airlines.

IT companies around the world spent billions of dollars to go through source code to look for the Y2K bug and fix it. I know because I was in the computer industry.

  7. People make money off of things like this by selling a book about it, or by generating web traffic on a site about it, or by selling tickets to a movie about it. Don't be naive. That's all that this 2012 thing is about, money. There is no substance to it. Of course, if you prefer to believe in the "ancient wisdom" of the freaking Mayans, rather than modern scientific knowledge, I guess that's your business, but I'm sure glad to be me and not you.
