Do people actually care about each other on here, or is that an unrealistic expectation?

Sometimes there are questions that are touching and you want to help the person.  Other times a question makes you think, and you want to answer it almost as a way of saying thank you for putting that out there.  

Sometimes the questions are dumb, and/or you've got  something funny to say about it.

If I read something tragic, then yeah my heart does go out to the person, and I answer them as that is the only thing I can offer.

Sometimes I do feel moved by some heartfelt plight poured out in a question in this (or any) forum.  If I feel there is a palpable need for a caring word, I will try my best to offer what consolation I can given the restriction of the medium.

I believe this sense of caring is genuine and motivated only by a simple feeling of sympathy (and sometimes empathy).

I also like to believe that most people are genuinely caring to those most in need, irrespective of who they are.

For the most part, I think its an unrealistic expectation.  While we might care, no one is going to drop their life for someone they don't know on here and more than they would from a stranger on the street.  In all likelyhood, people on here may give you a few moments of thier time to look something up or share info they already have, but you only get a few moments.

I like to give give full and honest answers to sensible question so I think I can be classed as one person that cares.

Well I do care about people and if I can help at least one of them with their problem I am glad.

I honestly think some people do.

I do for sure,i dont know anyone personally but i treat everyone like i do know them, they ask advice and ill try to help them.

The most annoying thing is when someone answers your question with "dont know" or "think for yourself" its obviously because they dont know the answer and personally if i dont know the answer i just avoid the question completely.Some people are just too rude on here,whereas loads are really nice.

I care about everyone on here with a deep passion. I pray for you and everyone else every night. You know what?  I think they do.  At first I wore my heart on my sleeve, every time some one gave me a thumbs down or subtly rebuked my answer.  I have come to find out that people do care if some one asks a sincere question.  It is only about the points, I think, until a certain point.

I don't do it for the points but genuinely want to help. I try to answer questions truthfully, but when I press the key it's just another question answered. I always try to get acccess to their profile. Most of the time it's blocked, but when there is some info I get an idea of what lies behind the question and I seem to be able offer occasionally additional  help via email.

Certain Categorgies I don't take too seriously and some questions are sheer fun to answer and have a laugh.

On here? I will give advise  to people based on my own experiences. But, your best options are to either contact the Citizens Advice Bureau, The Good Samaritans or, Child Line.

Personally I think too many people think they give good advice because they watch TV shows such as The Jeremy Kyle Show which makes them think they are experts.

It is my op ion that people are really nice to each other. However there are a small percentage of the people who will create an environment the makes the whole look bad. Maybe I have narrow vision and want the world to be a better place to live in. In this world of yes and nos it we nice could reach a situation of compromise.

It depends on the individual personality. some people do care, others reply to be funny or for the points. Generally its hard to get alot of people to actually care for other people that they cant see face to face.

Some people answer questions just for the points obviously - you can tell by their short & stupid answers that they give.

For the most part though if people have a real problem then I think people will go out of their way to try and help them out. So I guess some people must care, so the answer must be yes.

serious questions care. But this site is also for entertainment

so you get all types.

I really care about the community in here, but I think there are many that don't care and are just here for the points. There are some nice people in here and some are not too nice. I know I care because that's why I come in here and answer questions. Good to meet all of you who come to Yahoo Answers!
