Question:

Do people actually say "wee!"?

I find it really awkward to say "wee!" as a show of excitement. It's so unnatural. What are some ways to show excitement and enthusiasm but naturally and not seem fake?

Like if someone starts talking to me about their new phone and I'm not interested at all but I want to seem interested, how do I do it? I don't want to say "Like, OMAGOSH!" lol !!!

  1. yea I do.

    wait...what was your point?

  2. I think that is an expression that girls and children use. I can't say that I have ever heard a man say that.

  3. Only when i'm speaking french, I say Oui [wee]. That means yes in case you were wondeing.

  4. "oh wow"

  5. Im scottish so i say wee meaning Little or Small

Wouldnt dream of saying wee to show excitment and dont know anyone who would.

  6. try for WOW if you want one syllable, or an adjective that expresses your thoughts such as wonderful, amazing, superb, very interesting, excellent, fascinating, whatever you think your audience wants to hear.

Practise a few situations for yourself and the words you would say, such as

(shown a photo of someone's child)how cute, looks intelligent, looks just like you

(you're asked to go clubbing on Saturday)great, looking forward to it, magnifico!

  7. oh ther's nothing wrong with that. the Irish say it. this is a wee too much... (a little bit) .. it' just a way of speaking. if you don't like it.. you stick to what you prefer .. just let others use their little mannerisms .. we all have something that others find strange or are not used to.. so if you learn more about other culutures.  you get used to all kind of things and you become open minded to their way of talking and it's no big deal.. Americans use slang. every country has some words that are a bit strange.. I believe in ''Life and let life'''... just let them use their words.. you don't have to use the same if you think it sounds silly.. x*x

  8. Just say "hey, that's great" and it is if you think about it for the person who is excited about something.

  9. I'm with Joey - we say it a lot but mean it as in small.  Also when a father and son have the same name, the son is always referred to as Wee George (for example) even as a 6'5" grown man.

I agree that it sounds very insincere as a cry of excitement.
