  1. I was there several times and didn't see any snow or ice. I thought global warming had melted it all years ago.

  2. Part of the misconception lies in that when they show the weather on the news, they never cover what is going on in Canada (or Mexico for that matter) there is just a "Canada-shaped blank spot (like it was some totally unexplored region). The only time Canada gets mentioned is when they say something like "a big mass of frigid air coming down from Canada...". Like cold air is the major export of Canada! So I think people seem to get the idea that Canada is some miserable place where everybody spends all their effort just trying to keep warm.

    On a related theme:

When I was in graduate school (in New York State), people would arrive from other states to start work and (I'm not joking) say things like: "OMG you have trees here!" (like they thought the whole state was concrete and skyscrapers from one end to the other!

  3. not always maybe 9 out of 12 months, but not always

  4. The people who believe that probably also believe that all Texans still ride horses to the market and wear cowboy hats.  Some of those people may have misconceptions about Canada because of the areas like Alaska that do have snow all year round.

  5. Yes, people do think that. I used to be one of them.

  6. not always. i just think Canada is just Canada. With alot of snow. Like Alaska but not Alaska because Alaska's different.

  7. Only people who think that ... are ignorant and need to learn about Canada.
