I hear alot about global warming yet I'm not convinced. I don't thing it's getting hotter in the summer and I sure the heck don't think winter are getting shorter or colder. I live In Pennsylvania and we didn't start getting warm weather around high 80's untill july. before july the temperrature was no more that 75 degrees. I'm actually sick of it I ride mortorcycles . I actually think the tempurature is getting colder. I've seen more snow this year than I have since 97 I'm in South Carolina and it's 96 degrees but it's thats normal. My neigbor is 74 years old and he says it's been hotter in the past.

  1. i would say i believe its happening by the weather i see because each summer in new york seems to get a little hotter and it doesn't snow a lot during the winter. There are also a lot of thunder storms.

  2. Some do, but the true believers think that they will be remembered as a part of what they think is the most important issue in history.  They are mistaken in thinking humans have meaningful control over climate variation, and especially that CO2 has any correlation with temperature.

With good reason do astute observers of the phenomena label it a religion.

  3. They'll tell you that weather is weather and climate is climate, but climate is the sum of all the weather.

They'll tell you oh, it's just where you live - but it's not, what you're seeing is what the rest of us are seeing.

They'll tell you oh, it doesn't mean it will just get warmer, it's an "unfortunate moniker" and "it should be called climate change because some places will get windier, some less windy, some drier, some wetter, some warmer, and some actually colder," which of course is what climate does, and of course they've been saying that since it stopped generally warming about eight to ten years ago.

At the end of the day, they have no idea what's going to happen.

Oh and it hasn't been snowing in NY the last few years???

  4. Most of the people that are talking about Global Warming, have not been around long enough to notice the difference.

and those of us that have been around long enough, are so old that we don't really remember what the weather was like back then.

however what we do have to look at is, the recorded tempuretures for the past and what we are having today.

how many people actually remember what the tempature was on this day last year?

What I do remember is that when I was a Kid, I could drink water from a garden hose, when I was playing in the yard.

I could look up and see a blue sky.

instead of wondering about the catch phrase "Global Warming" why are we not not looking more at the Air quality, when in the major metropolitan area they are starting to announce dangerous air quality days, what do we do about those days? are those the days that we are not supposed to breath?

in many countries it is safer to drink wine and beer, than it is to drink the water, and often cheaper.

and it is coming to that point in the US.

Is this really what we want our kids and grandkids to grow up with?

  5. i believe in it because of the weather changing.

  6. I believe it because of the data.

  7. Because of science and scientific knowledge, chemical reactions and intuition.

  8. This environmental scientist doesn't believe in global warming.

  9. I don't believe global warming because of the media or because of the weather I see, but because I've studied the science of it.

Honestly, though, living in California it's not at all hard to see the effects of global warming, which affect us mainly by causing less rain and higher snow levels in winter.

Air quality has actually vastly improved in California over the last 40 years.  I'm surprised that it's gotten worse where "Hannah's Grandpa" lives.  In Asia it has become much much worse though.

  10. i am not convinced either. this entire year as well as thelast three have been "unseasonably cool". This global warming is costing me big bucks keeping my pool heated.

  11. I believe global warming is real because ALL major scientific organizations, like NAS, AAAS, NASA, say it is.  I'm not a climate scientist and I don't have the knowledge or money to perform experiments to figure out if it is real, but they are and they do.  So I'm going to leave it up to the experts and I think that the fact that there aren't any major scientific organizations that say climate change isn't happening shows that it is most likely real.

  12. Because of the science.

  13. Really, I think a whole lot of people including me believe global warming because of the media. I mean we hear about it on T.V and we've seen movies being made about it, it is happening and it will and has affected man-kind. We have heard all the ice will melt and drown half the world, isn't 50% of Earth already made of water? And since the boom of population is acuring we will be forced to have less land and we will probably turn on one another, leaving the situation at every man and woman for him or herself. So I guess yeah were split half and half we know it's happening and it does get a lot of media attention.

  14. The reason you aren't convinced is because you refuse to listen to scientific evidence.  You rely on the "media" and the "weather" to somehow convince you whether or not this exists.  Get a grip.

  15. Neither. I've read a significant amount of the scientific literature on the subject and have followed the research over the past 4 - 5 years.

Science, despite what non-scientists think, isn't always intuitive.  Determining reality requires careful study, data acquisition, experimentation, analysis, writing results for others to scrutinize, etc.
