In my opinion, they certainly do, if they cannot while sitting in front of their computer, be bothered to click on this link below:

which invites YOUR opinion on a number of provocative polls and controversial issues.

Do YOU deserve the government you get because you are too busy or apathetic to ask or answer difficult questions?

  1. they voted for them.

  2. Yes and No the problem with something like democracy is 49% of the people get a government that the other 51% want....

  3. Sure. People get what they deserve.  Any country that has a government the majority doesn't like can vote it out or revolt.. Get rid of the party system and vote for a candidate to represent you in your riding . The party elected usually does not represent the people .The representatives can elect a chairman among themselves . Today the elected must vote the party line  and who makes policy? Big business and bureaucrats.

  4. Its not a case of getting the government they deserve. Its more a case of printing crafty election promises in their manifesto which they know that they are not going to keep. Current big lie "We will have a referendum on the European manifesto"

No, I'm not going to your website poll, its probably for another infant party who is going to deflect votes away from the larger ones and to cause a skew in the result. I remember when there were two main parties with a very small third. Then the electors had a straight choice between left and right and knew what the were getting.

  5. Yes.

  6. I dont deserve the one i ended up with.

  7. I think your linked site implies a form of direct democracy, a bit like having referendums on every issue (like Ancient Athens).

But UK is a representative democracy made up of geographical constituencies.

Generally, I agree with your instincts. The people who annoy me most are those who spend an hour companing about the UK government, then they finally say "I've always voted Labour; always will!"

  8. we all deserve a better goverment.... but if there is no check attached.... do you think representatives and senators will read what we have to say

  9. Everyone has different views that`s why people vote the way they do, it`s the people who vote them in, whether you like it or not

  10. Which one?

King Arthur with the knights at the round table?

    The sheriff of Notthingham?

Robin Hood and his merry men?

Captain Hook with Polly the parrot?

The dead Mummy eerily wailing in ghostly kitchen's dialect with ghostly and deadly words?

Or our universal creator of heaven and earth?

    Luke 9.55-56

    What do you think?

  11. Looking at voter apathy levels in the UK that is very true for a lot of people

  12. People, whether politicians or not, who DO bravely ask or answer the difficult questions get socially penalized by being unpopular and labelled as extreme.  Society gets the government they deserve.  Effort must be made to educate grass roots segment of society to identify and reject distracting sensationalist news, and demote pop-culture and celebrity gossip to the backseat, in order to confront issues soberly.  Then the quality of democratic governments will relect this shift.  As long as people are fickle as to their long-term needs and consumerist in their view, we are blessed with a government that will cater to fashionable whims rather than serious concerns.

  13. Nope because democracy doesn't work, if I vote for someone and one other person votes for somebody else then my vote is cancelled out, therefore who I voted for mite not get into government, I didn't vote for this government so I don't deserve the mistakes they make

  14. yes , but the suggestion of the pathetic attitude really is not the full extent of the problem though it does exist, unfortunately apathy reigns supreme when politicians promise they  will do this, and do that when they come to power, and once in a position to keep those promises  nothing is done, but the system we have is the one we have to go along with it will be a great Revelation if and when politicians learn to speak the Truth.

  15. The people as a whole deserve the governement they get, but individuals can only do so much if the majority is not with them. Then here in the US you can have someone win the majority of the public vote and lose on a technicality - terrible, just terrible.  Do we deserve this for allowing the system we have to remain in place without changing it to a normal majority system?  I guess we do.  Since we are not getting a amendment to change that, either, I guess we should be replacing all our current Representatives and Senators until that does get on the books, too.

  16. Another site, advertised as an exercise in direct democracy, is http://www.myverdict.net. There, users get the chance to put their own questions to a vote, they can post arguments  for or against any question. They can also change their vote if the arguments persuade.

It's a community website for every community.

There are some cracking articles on selecting leaders, political parties and ways of restraining the excesses of corporations as well as some competitions.
