Question:

Do people do this on purpose?

I have noticed that a lot of people spell things incorrectly, like "shud" for should, "woude" for would, "sopose" for supposed, and so on. Before I get scared about the state of affairs in the education system, is this something that young people do on purpose as a way to fit in? I've been out of high school for 8 years, so maybe the new trend is to downplay intelligence by using misspelled words. Or like the LowEr CasE UpPpErR CcAsE thing that kids do. But are all the spelling mistakes on purpose, but in reality they are very intelligent kids? I can understand laff for laugh, I suppose, as it saves the time it takes to type one extra letter. But I don't understand sometimes. So is it on purpose?

  1. I don't think it is entirely a lack of intelligence, I think it is a mixture of  pure laziness, lack of education and a trendy thing to do. I don't understand why "kid" these days think it's cute, but they do.
