Question:

Do people from Baltimore consider themselves Northerners or Southerners?

I visited Baltimore not to long ago (Im from Virginia) and its odd because the people there sometimes seem very Northern yet Southern at the same time. For example, in general, they are friendly, but their accents are funny and then they seem to be more fast paced up there. I enjoyed my visit. I realize Baltimore is below the Mason Dixon line, so its not really in the North, but it seems to have a lot of Northeast qualities. But it also has some Southern ones too . What region do Baltimorians identify with?

  1. They're confused! Maybe Mid-Atlantic would be a better way to describe people whom live in the states of Pennsylvania .Delaware,Maryland, even New York state to a certain extant!

  2. I believe Maryland is an in between state.  i think he is right with the Mid-Atlantic.  I live in Baltimore and I guess I would consider myself more Northern thatn Southern.  Oh and I don't know what part of Baltimore you visited, but I would really like to know because people sure aren't very friendly around my way

  3. I think of myself as being a Northerner...I don't have a southern accent and it gets so cold here I've never thought of myself as living in the South!
